The TechValets Guest List
Throughout our experience in IT, we’ve had many conversations with a countless number of
vendors pitching software, hardware
and support services. Sadly, most of those vendors spent the majority of the time talking
about themselves; recounting how fast they’ve grown or how many regions they’ve served.
When you first give us the opportunity to chat, we prefer to do more listening than
speaking in order to learn about your business and to get a good grasp on the challenges
you face. Only until we have a thorough assessment of your IT needs can we confidently
offer a plan to fix or improve those issues. TechValets’ solutions are always a la carte,
with our services ranging in size and scope to best serve the interests of our clients;
not ours. Below are just a few examples of how we’ve served clients of all tastes and sizes.
Though we cannot disclose their names publicly for legal reasons, you can always call us or
write to us so we can provide you with a list of references, which you can then contact on your own.
Complete Network Installations
Issue: A small consulting firm had just acquired additional office space and needed to expand its
network to account for more workstations and network traffic. The firm also required remote access
to its network for its traveling consultants and for its small East Coast office.
Our Solution: TechValets replaced the firm’s entire network with a Gigabit backbone that included
its new office space and required a major change of ISP services; TechValets also procured several
new workstations through a major OEM then built and deployed a standard image for all office PCs;
additionally, TechValets sourced a second server, and installed and configured Windows SBS 2003
with ISA 2004 to allow secure remote access via the web for specified users.
The One Man Band
Issue: An independent consultant with a small home office needed a way to automate the back up
of his fast-growing inventory of client data files, as well as a way to access those files
when he traveled.
Our Solution: Using one of his old computers, TechValets built him a cost-efficient device
to automatically back up his important files on a daily basis; TechValets also installed and
configured third-party software to enable easy and secure remote access to his home network
from any web-enabled computer; we even found him a new computer at a great price
(and built it for him, of course).
Growing, growing, growing…
Issue: A quick-rising company had out grown its Microsoft SBS 2000 environment and required a
more robust solution to manage its network and its MS Exchange environment.
Our Solution: TechValets redesigned and migrated its Microsoft SBS 2000 server to a
Windows 2003 Standard domain with distributed application architecture, which also
involved the segregation of MS Exchange and deployment on a dedicated server; additionally,
TechValets installed a new storage array and migrated its Symantec Enterprise Virus software
suite into the new Active Directory environment.
Global Integration
Issue: A medium-sized business needed to improve its wide-area network (WAN) connection
with several small overseas distribution centers, to facilitate the sharing of home-office
software resources and to gain more control over its users and assets.
Our Solution: TechValets upgraded the network architecture in each of the distribution
centers, including the deployment of several hardware-based firewalls to allow site-to-site
VPN access over local internet service; TechValets also expanded the company’s existing
Active Directory environment to include users and computers at these overseas sites, which
facilitated centralized management and sharing of its IT resources.
